Joe F Very well written and acted about issues that are still problems from times that have changed but we still have a ways to go. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Not much. Serious melodrama from the start mucks it up. There's the cliched Irish/gypsy singing bits, hard drinkin' and gettin' the 'move on' from the 'boyoes'. Hazel Doupe is fine, but that Irish wannbe Justin Theroux & the rest of 'em are sad. Corny, cliched melodrama. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Donald Clarke Irish Times An impressively passionate recreation of a now-distant era. Above all it is a triumph for Doupe, who scraps and bawls and triumphs like a star from the golden age. Nov 5, 2018 Full Review Wendy Ide Screen International A gloriously unruly collision of vivid romanticism and tough, unsentimental truths about the hardscrabble lives and casual discrimination faced by Irish travellers. Oct 9, 2018 Full Review Todd McCarthy Hollywood Reporter Strongly evokes a rural world stuck mid-way between restrictive age-old traditions and budding modern tendencies. Sep 19, 2018 Full Review Andrew Kendall Stabroek News It is a thoughtful assessment of gender relations, coming of age and a search for identity. May 21, 2019 Full Review Roe McDermott Hot Press Touching on themes of classism, racism and sexism, Float Like A Butterfly shows the multiple, interconnecting ways that bigotry can box people in, leaving them no choice but to fight their way out. Rated: 3.5/5 May 10, 2019 Full Review Paddy Kehoe RTÉ (Ireland) There are the bones of a decent film here but the script is clichéd, while the over-employed score mostly spoils it.
