Critics Consensus

Flower proves Zoey Deutch can bring even the most preposterously written characters vividly to life -- and that she isn't quite enough to carry a fundamentally flawed film.

Rated: 0.5/4 Aug 27, 2018 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Deutch burns up the screen in ways that are so passionately multifaceted I was dumbstruck by all of the emotional nuances she was able to mine with such aggressively calming ease. Rated: 3/4 Mar 28, 2018 Full Review Barry Hertz Globe and Mail Everyone here is simply a mismanaged thing to be moved around an isn't-that-shocking storyboard as needed. It's a shame, as Deutch shows real commitment to a role that demands the exact opposite ... Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/25/24 Full Review Jerod S Zoey has a ridiculous role to play - a teenager that's sexually disturbed but is tossed redeeming qualities here and there. It's a try hard movie. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/22/24 Full Review Patrick F This is a weird movie. It's very dark, and more of a drama than a comedy. Kathryn Hahn and Adam Scott were kind of wasted given their great comedic backgrounds. Zoey Deutch have a good performance. The premise is interesting, but I was sort of repulsed by the characters. Had higher hopes for the movie. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/13/24 Full Review Ravenswood R Emotionally unstable and off track film that has no coherent guiding theme. The acting is actually very good, amazingly, since the dialogue is extremely scattershot and unconvincing. The premise and story and almost all occurrences depicted are totally disconnected from anything resembling real life. So many flaws, and so many problems with this movie it would take a while to list them all. I made it through, and I consider that an accomplishment somehow, but it was really just a waste of time. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/02/23 Full Review Catherine C Absolutely loved Zoey Deutsch in this film! Although the characters were not that likable and it was a bit difficult to emotionally connect, I did love the unexpected ending of the film! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/30/23 Full Review Ed In addition to being morally dubious to exact vigilante justice on someone, even a child molester, I didn't like the two's relationship and the copious amounts of sexual references.
