Rated: 4/5 Jul 24, 2015 Full Review Jay Weissberg Variety Helmer Neeraj Ghaywan hasn't found ways to overcome script and editing weaknesses, resulting in a disappointing drama that's unable to realize the potential of the one truly interesting character. Jul 24, 2015 Full Review Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express [Masaan] announces the arrival of new talents in its writer and director: Grover's story is eminently worth telling, and Ghaywan tells it beautifully. Rated: 4/5 Jul 24, 2015 Full Review Jimmy Cage Jimmy Cage Movie Reviews (YouTube) A film like a poem. MASAAN is a calm, layered work of art that takes us on the journey of two people and by doing so is speaking about the big and small things in this world, like life and death. Rated: 7/10 Apr 8, 2022 Full Review Nick Evan-Cook One Room With A View Powerful and sweeping, Masaan is a vital and unforgettable watch. Only some slightly contrived plot elements hold it back from total greatness. flower f This is a film for those who have the attention span for slower paced, realistic films. The acting is so natural and grounded making the characters so believable like real people whom you feel for. It tugs at your heartstrings especially during the last quarter where you see how these stories tie in with each other. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/24 Full Review Shailesh C what was the purpose of making this movie? not sad, no comedy, you will only get depression while watching this movie. dont reccomend it.. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/03/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie was set in the valleys of Ganges... focussing a two sided story of a young woman and a young man...The story was appealing and every character has equal roles in making film more beautiful...The movie discusses about social taboos and casteism in India...The director,Neeraj ghaynwan has put a great effort to make the movie more of a masterpiece.... Because the story strictly has it's politics showing the complexity and pressure due to societal conditions in India. Or in other words I can say it's a journey through grief and complexity in an indian context. The acting of debut artist Vicky kaushal was praiseworthy. As I mentioned the movie discusses social conditions in India as well as about sexual morality.. We can clear see how caste and money divides indian society in this movie. Overall the movie was great❤️ Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Best movie I have ever seen. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review avant s a brilliant movie. not in the list of the best Indian movie on my list but surely up there with the best! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member At once a both smart and powerful film, Neeraj Ghaywan's "Masaan" is a very fine film for our generation. A youthfully entertaining drama about love and curiosity, this is a film which shall be remembered not for how it rattles our tranquility, but for how it shakes the core of your heart. And that's the best compliment I can afford for an Indian film in recent times. It's the best Hindi film of the year- and easily the most compelling one. Don't miss it.
