Synopsis
Originally published in 1779, the English Christian hymn "Amazing Grace" has been sung by millions, reinterpreted in countless ways and played on an unimaginable array of instruments. It's a song known by just about everyone with two working ears and a heartbeat. Host Bill Moyers examines the song's timelessness and power, as well as the story behind its creation. As it turns out minister John Newton may not deserve all the credit for penning the masterpiece.
