Bill B Peculiar melodrama with Granger uncharacteristically playing a murderous sociopath. Some of it doesn't make a lot of sense, but the twisted ending is certainly memorable. Nevertheless, the production design, the colors used in the cinematography, a great performance from Jean Simmons and a curious story, makes "Footsteps in the Fog" a good entertainment, although it fails a little bit on its artistic ambitions. Stewart Granger is very good as the dastardly villain, his (real) wife Jean Simmons does what she can as his housekeeper, Bill Travers is characteristically clunky as Granger's love rival.
