Bill B Peculiar melodrama with Granger uncharacteristically playing a murderous sociopath. Some of it doesn't make a lot of sense, but the twisted ending is certainly memorable. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/05/24 Full Review Steve D Great game of cat and mouse with strong work from all involved. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/24 Full Review john k Great movie very enjoyable Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member It starts a liitle too much melodramatic, and it has some ex machinas in the climax. Nevertheless, the production design, the colors used in the cinematography, a great performance from Jean Simmons and a curious story, makes "Footsteps in the Fog" a good entertainment, although it fails a little bit on its artistic ambitions. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Modestly well done 50s murder melodrama, shamelessly borrowing elements from superior classics like Gaslight, Rebecca and The Lodger, but with a psychologically implausible plot and rather overdone Benjamin Frankel score. Stewart Granger is very good as the dastardly villain, his (real) wife Jean Simmons does what she can as his housekeeper, Bill Travers is characteristically clunky as Granger's love rival. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review John L A film to enjoy and one to watch again! Jean Simmonds' performance is as powerful as it is gentle, and never fails to move me.
