Davi Caro PopMatters An ambitious, much-deserved rebirth for one of the richest art industries in the world... Feb 20, 2024 Full Review Jae-Ha Kim Jae-Ha Kim "Foreign Land" is an evocative Portuguese film about a country in turmoil. It's also a thrilling character study in which the striking stars display more sensual, onscreen chemistry than Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in "Titanic." Audience Member The beauty of two accomplished filmmakers finds solace in the face of Fernanda Torres, who carries the film with an assuredness that only a few actors are able to. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member A decent film that holds our attention and keeps us always interested even if its attempt at being a combination of drama, thriller and (forced) romance is not that successful - not to mention how the characters' motivations are fuzzy especially in its third act. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Blend of Cinema Novo (New Wave) and film noir. The slow pace undercut the tense atmosphere, but it still managed to be an artful riff on feeling unmoored due to the failures of the "New World." Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member "Sim, eu estou tão cansado, Mas não pra dizer Que eu estou indo embora. Talvez eu volte, Um dia eu volto, quem sabe" Vapor Barato (trilha sonora) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Story about a kid whose mother dies and he feels he has to journey to Spain where his mother grew up. A man offers him a chance to go to Spain if he transports a violin to one of his customers in Portugal. It ends up being a drug deal, and things go terribly wrong. A good film, considering it is foreign and made in 1996. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member "Eu estou tão cansado, mas não pra dizer que eu tô indo embora."
