Black comedy doesn't get much clumsier than Jay Floyd's Forgiving the Franklins. Go to Full Review

Writer/director Jay Floyd provides a pitch-perfect satire on family life and religious values that would be Hallmark's Sunday Night Movie in a better world. Go to Full Review

If ever there was a man destined to (eventually) take the reins of shock suburban cinema from the aforementioned Waters, Jay Floyd is it. Go to Full Review

This dark comedy seems to be poking fun at the religious fundamentalists, but there's also an underlying message about living your life without shame, being who you are, and even about faith. Go to Full Review

Floyd does provide some huge laughs along the way but loses all potential for poignancy by never getting past what eventually becomes a one-joke premise. Go to Full Review

01/30/2013 I love this movie. I roared with laughter and cried as well. On top of that the film has stuck with me over time in a profound way. FTF is inspired in the truest sense. See more 01/30/2011 Very well made flick. A lot of artistic layers at work, here. See more 10/07/2010 this dark twisted comedy was right up my alley...its on netflix instant play, check it out! ;) See more 02/20/2010 Very different movie. Gives a new perspective to an old issue. Movie made me laugh out loud a few times and was truly my kind of film. I know this movie is not for everyone, but it does make a lot of good points about what it means to be "christian" in today's society. The movie goes to certain extremes to make a point but in the end these exaggerations are necessary. One of my favorite scenes was when they met Jesus and he was chopping down crucifixes explaining how the symbol has become a tool for greed and how this family needs to live their lives instead of being uptight and narrow minded. Everyone around the family can't take the "new" Franklins and their new attitude to church, religion, sex, and life. Watch this film if you dare, but know that the subject matter will probably offend most people. The ending was a bit of a surprise, but not too far off. It goes to show the hypocrisy and unwillingness for others to accept what they can't understand. See more 10/31/2009 A random Netflix Instant find, and it was great. I can honestly say that this movie changed my life. I've never seen another movie like it, both stylistically and content-wise. I was never sure if it was supposed to be funny or what, but I didn't care. I loved it. See more 08/07/2009 Very stiff acting with a very weird script. Didn't know whether it wanted the audience to laugh at religion or laugh at being super liberal. Tried to shock us at points, but the acting was so much like an Enzyte commercial featuring smiling Bob. I think it was interesting? See more Read all reviews
