BRizz 2 Fragile (2005), starring Calista Flockhart, is what I’d call an okay horror movie. It’s not terrible by any means, but it’s definitely not something I’d go out of my way to watch again. The premise follows the spiritual unrest of a ghost who’s angry about something from the past and starts taking revenge on the people currently working and staying in a hospital. It’s got that classic “haunted hospital” vibe, but it never fully delivers on the intensity or depth that it sets up. The biggest issue with this movie is its structure. Almost all the important backstory gets crammed into the third act, and by then, it feels rushed and a little too convenient. That information would’ve been way more effective if it had been discovered gradually—setting it up in Act One, exploring it more in Act Two, and saving the final punch for the end. Instead, the movie makes us wait for nearly everything and then dumps it all at once before rushing to the conclusion. As for Calista Flockhart, she does a decent job. She clearly worked with what she was given, and I can’t fault her performance. But the script itself has a lot of issues—it’s full of plot holes and confusing transitions. Scenes jump from one moment to the next without much logic or connection, and instead of guiding the audience, the film leaves us guessing in ways that don’t feel intentional or clever—just lazy. There are some creepy visuals and eerie moments, and the setting itself has potential, but it never really leans into the horror enough to be memorable. It kind of floats in the middle—too tame to be truly scary, too messy to be considered solid psychological horror. All in all, Fragile isn’t the worst horror movie I’ve seen, but it’s far from great. If you’re just looking for something random and ghostly to throw on, maybe give it a shot. Otherwise, there are better haunted hospital stories out there. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/23/25 Full Review Audience Member Good atmospherics and a strong late 2000s vibe for sure, and a decent story with some depth and mystery, as well, but it has a tendency to melodramatics in its plot and heavy handedness in its stylistic choices, particularly with regard to its soundtrack. Calista Flockhart does well overall. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/13/25 Full Review Tommy D I think this movie is good. I not understand hate reserved for this movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/25/24 Full Review prawnda s decently entertaining, some of the writing and acting were pretty good, but the ending made no sense. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Valerii Ege D Fragile is one of my golden list movies. I watched this masterpiece when I was young and couldn't forget. This year I watched it again for study purposes and realized that it was much better than I remember. The narrative still haunts me sometimes. Its structure is the reason why I become a horror movie buff. And I probably got the idea that horror movie characters should be intelligent after this brilliant thriller. This movie should be accepted as a definition of a solid horror-mystery and should study in schools. How it is directed, how they used the kids, how they created a chilling second floor, and how they didn't over-edited the film with unnecessary cuts is a lesson to all movie directors. A must-watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review sean s What a weak and crappy movie... It was slow and boring for the most part, and the plot kind of staggered here and there as it went along. You can see Calista Flockhart struggling throughout this knowing that it is a dog of a movie. Here and there, she will do overly dramatic outbursts with her coworkers to make up for the poor writing. This one is not worth the time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
