Audience Member Seductively surreal and profoundly plausible in this brave new era of Trump. https://www.cecildaily.com/fraud-trailer/youtube_d9f771f6-4a9e-5c6a-bdfb-cc6ba677307d.html Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Worth it -- just to see the HOT - HOT- HOT mom who stars in the film !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Delightfully disturbing because Fraud is constructed from a family's real home movies that are stitched together into a completely fictional narrative. Finding those "seams" that stitch this patchwork of videos together is part of the cinematic fun and quite a challenging puzzle to solve. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member As the patriarch of the actual family depicted in this artsy subterranean sà (C)ance, I sincerely hope everyone out of sheer cinematic curiosity gives Dean Fleischer-Campâ(TM)s âFraudâ? a good âlook-seeâ? to experience the âmagicâ? ⦠& IF one wishes to glimpse the REAL family behind the haunting mystique of this film, one is never more than a quick fingerâ(TM)s waltz away from our humble YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF0pr_wuOvA https://www.cecildaily.com/fraud-trailer/youtube_d9f771f6-4a9e-5c6a-bdfb-cc6ba677307d.html Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Dean Fleischer-Camp's film Fraud is quite unlike anything else I've witnessed this year. 52 minutes of whiplash editing married to a completely fictional narrative makes Fraud one helluva crazy ride!!!!!!!!!!!!! The actual Family's YouTube archive contains a GARGANTUAN stash of home movies covering just about every aspect of modern day American life. Every day it appears they are on trip to a new restaurant, the mall, a beach, a ski trip or hike. Given the vast volume of the Family's video collection, I imagine several sequels are pending. For those of you who can't just get enough "Reality TV" and want something more to hold you over - Here is a portal into the Family's genuine adventures: One can "binge watch" their YouTube channel for literally weeks and come away with a greater appreciation of that quest for good life and the so-called "American Dream". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF0pr_wuOvA Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review david f This compilation of home movies taken from the internet and stitched into a drama is fascinating and a great conversation starter. Ben Nicholson Sight & Sound Its enigmatic quality... makes it all the more alluring. Aug 15, 2018 Full Review John DeFore Hollywood Reporter One suspects most viewers will respond with a shrug, if they sit through it at all. Jan 19, 2017 Full Review Peter Keough Boston Globe He seems to be attempting two paradoxical goals: a documentary about consumerism that is also a mock-documentary demonstrating that documentaries are fiction. It works superbly on both levels, but to what purpose? Jan 19, 2017 Full Review Dominic Griffin Baltimore Sun At 52-minutes, it's not long enough to feel particularly substantive, and seeing it on the big screen can be a little disorienting, but Fraud possesses a hypnotic pull that's hard to deny. Rated: 7.5/10 Jul 16, 2019 Full Review Shelagh Rowan-Legg ScreenAnarchy While not a documentary in the strictest sense, it is a documentary of how we live our lives both as consumers and stars of our own lives that might end up on the internet for all to consume. Aug 14, 2018 Full Review Matt Patches Thrillist One of the spookiest movies of the YouTube era. Michael Haneke would be proud. Apr 11, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews
