Elif O If this is a comedy, then I’m a tree. If she has read Orlando by Virginia Woolf then she must have read it in Turkish or another language she doesn’t understand. Demanding 126 minutes of the viewers’ time is sheer arrogance and selfishness especially because she intends to torture rather than please. Whereas Woolf’s novel, a veritable testament to Truth, Beauty and Love gives so much so freely. I like the characters and plots of Woolf’s masterpiece but it really bewitches at the level of the sentence and paragraph. My first reaction to the novel was qualifying it as “sentence porn”. Ulrike Ottinger wants to disturb, your eyes, your ears, your heart and your soul. Maybe it can be explained with WWII and the free use of torture having a cultural impact on the consequent generations: Every feeling revolts. Such a waste of the time of the divine talent Delphine Seyrig. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/25/25 Full Review Read all reviews
