From the villain to the strained efforts at Terrence Malick-style lyricism, the film is earnest but sentimentally simplistic and plodding. It is, however, useful as a cinematic YA novel, taking a palatably approach to an ugly chapter in our history. Go to Full Review

Freedom's Path treads into melodrama as characters stay rigidly defined to support the narrative's agenda. That said, its powerful themes and unvarnished truth lessens the flaws for a worthwhile viewing experience. Go to Full Review

02/10/2023 What a beautiful film from start to finish. Amazing gem of an indie. Very intense, made me jump, cry, gasp, etc. However, then these lighter, touching moments would happen, little smiles, chuckles, the audience would laugh, letting you take a breath. The location and landscape are stunningly beautiful. So well acted, I wanted to embrace some characters and yell at others. The music is still in my head. Authentic and well-researched.
