Jeremy Heilman MovieMartyr.com [Wade] is clearly a biased filmmaker, but Freeheld never for a moment pretends to be anything other than activist filmmaking, passionate about its cause. Rated: 51/100 Jun 11, 2012 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member barely into the first 10 minutes and i had 'em goosebumps. touching, heartachingly depressing and scary all at once. at the end of the day, shouldn't the big picture be about humanity, not sexuality, not religion etc etc ? Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member I can't find strong enough words, to recommend this award-winning documentary. It's a testament on how people (who are uncomfortable with others being different) hide behind laws, conventions, or institutions, and forget THE MOST SIMPLE THING OF ALL: that we are all human, despite our differences. The film celebrates humanity. It's a must see. Congrats to Cynthia Wade, I wish there were more people out there who are human so that we didn't need people like her to remind us how to be ourselves. It's a really powerful documentary about a woman with lung cancer fighting for her female partner to obtain domestic partnership rights. This was in New Jersey before the state ruled it was legal. It's really emotional and enlightening. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member I've never cried more in a movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member I was so moved by this movie in so many ways. The love that Laurel and Stacie shared touched me deeply. I was so angered by the council who came across as such bigots. I believe (and I may be wrong) that they changed their minds only because of increasing political pressure. Which is great that they changed their minds, but it reminds me how many closed minded people there still are in this country. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member awesome short doc - genuine emotion and insight. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
