LESLIE Michelle Pfeiffer is fabulous. Her performance makes me realize that I've missed her presence on the screen. The rest of the cast is also wonderful. The movie itself is a bit bizarre. It will appeal to some and not others. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/11/21 Full Review Jay B Loved the characters and how they developed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/04/21 Full Review Jennie S Loved it. Michelle seemed as though she was also clairvoyant Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/30/21 Full Review Peter B This may be the best movie I've watched in five years. The character sketches and the drily witty dialogue, paired with the weirdness of the circumstances, made this a compelling viewing. I loved the movie more than I've enjoyed a lot of real world for the past year and a half. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/30/21 Full Review John It could have been shorter, I think the movie was too long for the story it tells. It would be more enjoying if it was really 1 hour 43 minutes (it is 2 hour 10 minutes in reality). Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/22/21 Full Review Hannah Hannah This is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It doesn't deserve even half a star, even though Michelle is worth looking at. Kevin Maher Times (UK) There's no ostensible plot. Just scenes. And a running gag about the reincarnated soul of the family cat. And not one, but two aggressively unfunny "comedy" seance sequences. An endurance test. Rated: 1/5 Jul 3, 2021 Full Review Robbie Collin Daily Telegraph (UK) It's the kind of format that works as long as the characters aren't all completely unbearable - which is, alas, not the case here. Rated: 2/5 Jul 1, 2021 Full Review Danny Leigh Financial Times Not a bad party to get stuck at but one with only one guest worth talking to. Rated: 3/5 Jun 30, 2021 Full Review Sarah Cortinaz InSession Film French Exit is the perfect mixture between drama and extremely dry humor. Michelle Pfeiffer exudes elegance with every scene she's in, and Lucas Hedges plays his usual endearing, supportive character. Apr 23, 2024 Full Review Jillian Chilingerian Offscreen With Jillian The film encourages a message of making the best of things but there is an aloofness to engage meaningfully with these characters. Aug 30, 2023 Full Review Alessandra Rangel InSession Film With beautiful reflections about love and life, aided by romantic views of Paris in the winter, French Exit offers a sensitive and empathetic lens on someone that is suddenly at odds with her life.
