Drew Gregory Autostraddle I just can’t believe this movie came out this year instead of twenty years ago. Sep 30, 2024 Full Review Lisa Kennedy Variety For every inventive or simply satisfying rom-com, there are dozens of clumsy, rote ones — “French Girl” falls among the latter. Mar 14, 2024 Full Review Amy Nicholson New York Times There are at least a dozen good zingers in here, particularly a three-part punchline from Ed Weeks as a snobbish food critic that kicks off with, “Have you ever seen an emaciated dolphin?” The trouble is none of the performances are on the same wavelength Mar 14, 2024 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews The superficial rom-com is filled with cliches, laugh-free slapstick comedy and awkward relationship moments. Rated: C Sep 3, 2024 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba If you love Braff or Vanessa Hudgens, well, honestly, it’s still not a particularly good use of your time. Aug 28, 2024 Full Review John Serba Decider Between Braff’s visible efforts and Brochu’s invisible efforts, there are just enough decent moments here to warrant a recommendation. You might have to move the goalposts before pressing play, though... Aug 9, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Matt B Is Zach B entering his Woody Allen phase? Slightly rumpled older guy with a fabulous, younger co-star who is mysteriously in love with him, he then fucks it up with his insecurities, but still gets the girl? Evelyne Brochu is luminous (and if you look at her IMDB profile is clearly a star in her native Canada), but is just murdered by the wooden, obvious dialogue and plot. The bits with her family are the best part of the movie, and Vanessa Hudgens plays a pantomine villain straight out of a Disney movie - she is gorgeous (duh) but just criminally under-used and cliche. Try harder Zach! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/16/24 Full Review Audience Member Hilarious; a great family and friends comedy. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/01/24 Full Review Holiday S Gross, this repugnant Braff in a cringe, creepy romance. No, just... no. Go away in obscurity, Zach Braff, where you belong. (Google: KickStart Zach Braff or Punk'd Zach Braff.) Why would anyone hire him? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/16/24 Full Review Phillip E Doris Day would have been in this movie if made 50 years ago. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/15/24 Full Review Kim H My friend and I laughed so hard we lost weight. French Girl is a perfect little movie where all's well that ends well. What's wrong with a story where love prevails? Who cares if it doesn't reinvent the wheel? Loved it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/01/24 Full Review John H The typical modern cliche keeps this from being better. A feminine guy (Zach Braff) and his girlfriend deal with her family and the girlfriend's ex (Vanessa Hudgens) offering her a job. While Hudgens does a great job and has a great role, much of the rest is just a retread of every other ROMCOM. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/17/24 Full Review Read all reviews
