BRizz 2 Frenzy had me genuinely excited going in. I’m a sucker for a good shark thriller—some are absolute gems, others are total disasters—but either way, they’re usually fun. The movie starts strong, giving us some interesting flashbacks and teasing what could have been a tense, survival-focused story. For the first half-hour, I thought, “Okay, this might actually be one of the good ones.” And then…the plane crash happens. About 30 minutes in, the whole thing takes a nosedive—both literally and figuratively. The first big head-scratcher? We’ve got characters who are supposed to be divers but apparently don’t know how to swim. Watching Seb and Lindsay struggle toward the island was almost comical—zero form, sloppy strokes, and no sense that they had ever been near water before. I’m not saying they needed Olympic-level technique, but if you’re a diver, you should at least look like you can swim without drowning. And then, in the most baffling turn, Lindsay—who could barely keep herself afloat—manages to outswim a shark. Not just outswim it, but trick three sharks. My suspension of disbelief was shattered right there. Then there’s the sharks themselves. Oh boy. When they finally appear, they’re a full-on CGI nightmare—cartoonish, stiff, and completely unconvincing. The moment the plane “lands” in the water, it somehow ends up on the ocean floor in what looked like about 20 feet of depth. So now I’m supposed to believe this shark-infested “deep ocean” is shallow enough for people to stand in? Come on. The physics of this movie make no sense either. There’s a scene where a shark bites into an inflatable tube and somehow…it doesn’t instantly pop. And once we get to the so-called “island” (which is really just a raft), the movie falls into a repetitive loop. Over and over again, we watch the same scenario: the shark lunges, almost gets someone’s leg, crashes into a boat, or slams into something to knock people into the water. Not only is it unrealistic (sharks don’t just ram things like bumper cars), it’s lazy. The frustrating part is that Frenzy starts with promise. The setup hooks you, and for a moment, you think you’re in for a fun, adrenaline-filled ride. But instead, it devolves into a repetitive, poorly executed mess with cheap effects and nonsensical character decisions. By the time it was over, I felt more exhausted than entertained. It could have been a sharp, tightly paced shark thriller. Instead, it’s a complete cluster of bad choices, bad effects, and bad writing—proof that sometimes a movie can sink long before the sharks ever arrive. Not a single thing that happens is even remotely realistic. I did enjoy however, the aspect that anytime the main girl tries to help someone, the sharks spawn out of nowhere with super speed and attack. I'm assuming this movie is supposed to be satire.
