Richard W I really liked it .great acting decent story line . Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/11/23 Full Review david f Andrew McCarthy and Molly Ringwald are both great, and the Cincinnati backdrop is really interesting for a movie from this time but the plot - about a college student who's engaged and set on a certain course in life before he falls for a lower-class mystery woman that changes everything - leaves much to be desired. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Fresh Horses is one of my favorite movies. It's a tragic love story about a guy who falls in love with a girl from the wrong side of the tracks. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Almost nonsensical, the leads gave it their best shot and Ben Stiller seemed to only be the strong, convincing actor and character. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member To preface: this movie was not awful, and I enjoyed it, but that doesn't mean it was good. Andrew McCarthy (handsome as always) and Molly Ringwald (who looked absolutely stunning) did great in their roles, and make chemistry between the characters even through poorly scripted spots where it seems as though there is a lack of it. It was an interesting story, and the setting was nice, but the story progression is what makes the film a pain to watch. It continously jumps from interesting and romantic to dull and melancholic in a matter of minutes, though the first 20 and last 20 remain solid. The score was supposed to give the movie more of a serious drama feel rather than another 1980s teen-tale, but awkward timing and mediocre story telling made it fall short and overall made the film seem even more cheesy and disheartening than originally intended. I would watch it again, but with lower expectations of a good story and more for the joy of watching 2 good actors do a pretty good job with what they're given. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member I watched this for the dream duo of Molly Ringwald and Andrew McCarthy, but their coupling here quickly falls apart in a work far less engaging and enchanting than Hughes' masterpiece Pretty in Pink. Neither my love for Andrew McCarthy's adorably perturbed face nor my major girl crush on Molly (miscast here) could save this sad, dreary, and sloppy mess of a film.
