Brilliant performances by the whole cast, I liked this film more than Salma Hayek's but I must say this is not a conventional film, it's only recommendable for art, history, movie and Frida Kahlo's fans. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member No es larga. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member A truly beautiful and even tragic view of the life of Frida Kahlo. Some other reviewers have accused the Leduc creation of being slow and disjointed. Yet I feel this is an intentional painting of the artist's life, further revealed in the bas relief of Ofelia Medina's masterful portrayal of the pleasure, the agony, and the mystery that was Frida. Frida, naturaleza viva —highly recommended. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Aunque un poco larga, Ofelia Medina la hace excepcional, casi como ver a Frida! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Paul Leduc's poetic account of Frida Kahlo's life might be disjointed and fragmented, he even leaves out quite a few pivotal moments of her bio, but the end result is both visionary and true. The film is virtually silent and extremely slow-paced, but Leduc's predilection for zoom-ins and panning movements creates a weird sense of dynamics. Juan José Gurrola's Diego Rivera comes across as a bit cartoonish, but Ofelia Medina's Frida makes up for all casting mistakes. Frida - Naturaleza Viva is of course all hers from start to finish.
