      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Friend Request's attempts to update old-school teen horror for the digital age do not, sadly, include memorable characters, fresh scares, or novel storytelling twists.

Ben Sachs Chicago Reader It's a film devoid of subtext, which is especially disappointing given that the subtext would have been so easy to incorporate. Rated: 0.5/5 Sep 28, 2017 Full Review Matthew Rozsa Salon.com The characters aren't as obnoxious and unlikable as the ones in "Smiley" and "Unfriended," but then again, bland and forgettable is only a marginally preferable alternative. Rated: 1.5/4 Sep 23, 2017 Full Review Leo Brady AMovieGuy.com Friend Request is an attempt to get the Halloween crowd a few weeks early, but it's the type of invitation you should just ignore. Rated: 1.5/4 Jun 8, 2021 Full Review David Bax Battleship Pretension Friend Request won't go down in history as great horror cinema but it will provide above-average returns for those seeking frights and thrills in the dark with their friends and sweethearts. Hi I thought this movie was some of the worst, horrific, blasphemous cinema I've ever seen. I hated every part of it. The writers have disrespected me personally by casting William Moseley and then not only killing his character. But killing him In a way that no one else died. They've disrespected me by keeping Kobe alive until the end. And having him serve an unnecessarily stupid purpose. Which was to stab Tyler in the throat with the knife I was suspicious of the whole time. They have ruined my day. Ruined my childhood. #RipTyler #FuckYou #DoBetter Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/17/24 Full Review Uditraj B I don't know what's happening to Hollywood since series have started. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/13/23 Full Review Liane C This is a very scary movie.I looked away at times to avoid seeing some of the scary moments fully. For a movie that I had never heard of until I recorded it on my DVR recently and with no actors in it that I've ever seen or heard of,I think it was pretty good.I wasnt expecting this to be a demonic type of movie.I expected it to be about a serial killer killing the students or something like that. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/03/23 Full Review Liam D It doesn't change anything In the internet horror sub genre but it's timely themes and good scares make it a decent watch Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/01/22 Full Review Reagan S This movie was great. The actors and actresses did an amazing job portraying their characters. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/21/22 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
