Susan M. R Bizarre but intriguing. Watched last night and am still thinking about it, so I believe that says something. Damien Lewis, (Paul) as always, draws you in to this crazy life he lives. He collects people he finds interesting, all moving in different directions, but all filtering in and out of Paul's home and grounds. The story begins when Paul (Damien Lewis) hires Lizzie (Jodhi May) as his assistant. They are polar opposites attempting to reach a common goal. The supporting players are solid, but Jodhi May, as Lizzie, shines. The story becomes insane at a party he throws and the viewer, much like Lizzy, must decide whether to stay or not - I did, she didn't. From that point the viewer experiences the evolution of all the characters, but mostly the rise and fall and rise again of Paul and Lizzy. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/30/23 Full Review Audience Member A fantastic British drama with great cast. Absolutely enjoyable!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Thank God for the BBC! Who else would take on intellectual literature devoid of car chases, large explosions and CGI? Poliakoff's template allows incredible talents like Damian Lewis and Jodhi May to really flex their acting chops. An unconventional take on boardroom etiquette and corporate rebellion. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member "Half the world is composed of people who have something to say and can't, and the other half of people who have nothing to say and keep on saying it." said Robert Frost. Well, Poliakoff is one of those people that just go on saying it, whether they have something to say or not. Admittedly, he does it in his unique sort of way, but when you have next to nothing to say, I feel the least you could do is to shut up. Even if, or particularly if your name is Stephen Poliakoff. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is brilliant. Can't believe so few have seen it or at least rated it. Poliakoff is a bit of a genius and I've never been let down by his directing although this movie is by far my favorite. The characters are intricate, fun, individual and perfectly layered, visually the movie is subtle, relies on patterns and familiarity (he likes red). The script is great, the plot is great, the acting is great and the whole package, its a twisting, turning, anarchical piece of perfection as far as im concerned. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Very entertaining but random piece of TV. The brilliant early part is set in a huge house where Paul surrounds himself with people who amuse him and has amazing parties. Its great to watch and you just wish you could join in. The ever underrated Damian Lewis is as awesome and amazingly good looking as ever. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
