This movie may not be every horror fan's cup of tea. It's a very, very slow burn. That said, it's got a good script, great acting, good character development and a fantastic payoff that sticks with you.

A paso lento pero certero, una historia simple pero muy bien contada, con poco presupuesto pero mucha calidad, sin jump scares forzados ni ruido fuerte pero con una atmosfera que cada vez te pone mas al borde del asiento. Las películas de terror no necesitan ser tanques con mucho presupuesto, millonadas en promociones, un universo con 4 spin offs ni un elenco lleno de famosos, esta película con 3 locaciones y menos de 10 actores logra cumplir igual o mas que muchas.

[Possible Spoilers]I do not know if the ritual was invented for this movie or is actually based on something Mesopotamian in origin? it looks like the actress had a hard time supressing her laughter during the filming of these scenes, so the director probably just gave up with the endless takes and decided to move on to film the rest of the movie. And one would think that her character would ask the bearded guy every possible question about the ceremony before starting it and, if he doesn't want to answer, tell him to get lost. The ending of this movie was very disappointing.

Not for nothing does the scariest scene in From Black—a movie that’s otherwise full of dark rooms and demonic whispers—take place in broad daylight, as Cora is allowed a vision of what really happened the day her son dropped off the face of the earth.
