Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com Portentous line readings are underscored, bolded, and italicized by bad direction, leaden symbolism, and a pushy score. Rated: 1.5/4 Apr 28, 2023 Full Review Lucas Moore JVS Media & Productions/Team JVS Anna Camp is really good but its so by the numbers that its hard to always stay in tune with it. It's a bargain basement horror movie perfect for a slow weekend afternoon. Rated: D+ Aug 1, 2023 Full Review Tina Kakadelis Beyond the Cinerama Dome From Black asks the audience if there’s anything more terrifying than simply not knowing, and forces them to live in that uncertainty. Jul 24, 2023 Full Review Paul Lê Dread Central There has been a notable dip in grief-horror as of late, and perhaps that’s because audiences are worn out. From Black is also profoundly draining, and not in a great way. Rated: 2.5/5 Jul 21, 2023 Full Review Cheryl Eddy io9.com Not for nothing does the scariest scene in From Black—a movie that’s otherwise full of dark rooms and demonic whispers—take place in broad daylight, as Cora is allowed a vision of what really happened the day her son dropped off the face of the earth. May 17, 2023 Full Review Louisa Moore Screen Zealots A too-familiar take on the conventional occult genre story, there's very little about the film that feels fresh or out of the ordinary. The end result is a hackneyed crime thriller turned demon horror movie that will please no one. May 16, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Holland W Another hour and 40 minutes gone forever……. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/12/24 Full Review eric b It is a blatant rip-off of the film "A Dark Song" and poorly done, even the changes to the script are weak, not making it original on its own. Just a lazy copy-cat of a really dark and moody film that teaches about forgiveness and the value of life. Can nobody come up with original films anymore, or do they all have to be a remake, or without plagiarizing a good story hoping for credit. Cheats. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/15/24 Full Review Richard W It's a decent horror ,good acting ,good special effects ,there was a couple spots were I was not understanding something, but overall a pretty good movie ,if your a horror buff take a look ,the critics got this at 36% the audience at 83 %.the critics are wrong ,maybe they weren't paid enough to give it a good review Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/26/24 Full Review Solomon K It’s a low budget, ignorant version of A Dark Song. Pretty dull and hokey. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/20/24 Full Review Cary C This movie may not be every horror fan's cup of tea. It's a very, very slow burn. That said, it's got a good script, great acting, good character development and a fantastic payoff that sticks with you.
