Barbara Shulgasser Common Sense Media The film doesn't present much in the way of evidence against Ghosn, so the conclusion we are left with is ambiguous at best. Rated: 3/5 Nov 2, 2022 Full Review John Serba Decider Curious, how this documentary turns into narrative mush in its last half-hour... it’s a lot of empty assertions. Oct 27, 2022 Full Review M.N. Miller Ready Steady Cut The documentary Fugitive: The Curious Case of Carlos Ghosn covers little to no new ground on the subject but offers a thorough look at this man’s rise. Yzzel R absolute garbage, one and a half hour of showing how this guy amazing and as if that supposed to make the oppressed any better that they were oppressed by such a successful business man, aw waw, my husband commit suicide out of inhuman working condition and the same guy who is responsible for that is going squanders money all over the globe (and stealing even more money) and now were are not supposed to even criminalize him because he is such a goro car industry or that he had rough childhood as if that suppose to give anyone any excuse to be an absolute piece of shit ! I watched the whole thing because I wanted to learn more about the confront between Carlos and Michel Taylor who helped him escape japan and then Carlos didn't pay him his fees and left him to rot in Japanese prison for two years , but the doc didn't even discuss any of that ! , just over and over of how the guy is amazing and how the Japanese justice system is rough , but both facts doesn't decline the fact that he is criminal in a LOT of crimes, but the docu apparently have a different point of view, the rich people point of view. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/28/23 Full Review David F When Carlos Ghosn, a former auto company CEO who was accused of financial crimes in Japan, escaped from Japan in a box it was only a matter of time before the event became a Netflix documentary, the official outcome of all the unbelievable stories you read about in the media nowadays. This one is pretty entertaining. It chronicles Ghosn's rise to head Nissan and then Nissan and Renault, describes some of the culture problems that bubbled up when he tried to run Japanese and European car companies simultaneously, and prods the office politics that may have led to his ouster. And then there's the whole box-escape scene, which is as tense and fascinating as you'd expect. The film features some very prominent interview subjects though it doesn't quite come to any definitive conclusions one way or the other. It isn't too deep but it does feel like the filmmakers went about as deep as they could go with what they had. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/28/23 Full Review Leaburn O Another excellent subject poorly executed in a Netflix documentary. Missed opportunity. It provides an outline but leaves many questions unanswered. Clearly the company lawyer knows a lot more than he can let in and feels no sympathy whatsoever for Ghosn. Surely there would be ways to explore the truth if you put more effort into investigative filmmaking. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/14/23 Full Review dan r Quite often real stories are more curious and absurd than those created for fiction. And that's the case with 'Fugitive: The Curious Case of Carlos Ghosn'. SYNOPSIS: 'The story of Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn, from his rise as a business mogul to his fall as an international fugitive.' You don't need to be petrol head or someone into the business world to find this story utterly intriguing, but also absolutely bonkers. The further we follow the story the further down the rabbit hole we drop and the more rediculous things become. Ghosn's rise and fall is riveting TV. Unfortunately though, the film doesn't present much in the way of evidence for or against Ghosn, so the conclusion is ambiguous at best, for a story which is still ongoing. A surprising hit! 7/10 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
