Dispatched on an assignment, New York City-based fashion photographer Dick Avery (Fred Astaire) is struck by the beauty of Jo Stockton (Audrey Hepburn), a shy bookstore employee he's photographed by accident, who he believes has the potential to become a successful model. He gets Jo to go with him to France, where he snaps more pictures of her against iconic Parisian backdrops. In the process, they fall for one another, only to find hurdles in their way.

The great photographer Richard Avedon curated the titles and exquisitely coloured stills of Hepburn in the latest collection from Givenchy, and each one is poster-perfect. The plot, such as it is, is full of lighthearted fun.

What is startling here is the eye-popping colour, the self-reflexive photography and visual effects, the dance sequences (Fred Astaire with his umbrella), and the witty and ingenious use of the Paris locations.

Set in Paris, the dazzling movie satirizes the fashion industry, as well as beatnik culture. The great Kay Thompson steals some scenes, but it's Audrey by whom you're mesmerized.

Way over the top on the verge of camp. Quentin Tarranatino wasn't wrong when he said that movies made in the 1950's sucked. This VISTAVISION film was released in 1957. I did enjoy watching an old neighbor of mine Ruta Lee look her absolute usual best. Anyway, imho, 57 was a good year for cars- not so much for movies.

A nice movie about Paris. I felt like it didn't need to be a musical. Audrey Hepburn did a great job. It was neat how they showed photography. The film is about a woman who gets hired to be a model for a fashion magazine. Overall a very good movie.

The notion that Audrey Hepburn would ever be considered "plain" or "unattractive" is ridiculous, but I don't think it's a movie that ever tries to pass itself off as remotely realistic. It's just a fun romantic comedy and the dance sequences are outstanding.
