What to Know

Critics Consensus

Retroactively enriching Fury Road with greater emotional heft if not quite matching it in propulsive throttle, Furiosa is another glorious swerve in mastermind George Miller's breathless race towards cinematic Valhalla.

Christina Newland iNews.co.uk George Miller re-visits his oil-soaked franchise with another brutal, female-dominated action film. Rated: 4/5 Sep 17, 2024 Full Review Steve Pond TheWrap “Furiosa” backs up, fills in the blanks and does a solid job of giving its title character a history that answers questions that its predecessor left in the dust. Aug 8, 2024 Full Review Namrata Joshi The New Indian Express While it has you in its grip initially, it gradually loses its way amid marauding tribes, lynch mobs and innumerable chases through the sand dunes on souped-up vehicles. There are moments that take your breath away but don't add up to pack in a wallop. Jul 10, 2024 Full Review Jeffrey Overstreet Looking Closer Organizing the chaos of the wasteland’s warring gangs around the exploitation of water and gas and bullets, Miller gives us an easy-to-read allegory about the inevitable destruction brought on by capitalism that is unchecked by conscience. Rated: B+ Jan 7, 2025 Full Review Dan Buffa Ramble On With Buffa (Substack) Impressive in certain areas and overabundant in others, it takes an intriguing premise and hits the snooze button. Action scenes dazzle and there's some climactic tension near the end, but all in all a movie that promised more than it delivered. Dec 29, 2024 Full Review Santanu Das Hindustan Times Miller's world-building is more interested in micro-aggressions that ultimately exhaust, and more importantly, do not land the claim Furiosa makes in the ultimate face-off with Dementus. Matthew S I loved this movie! Definitely worthy of being included in the franchise. It was gritty and the action scenes were spectacular. A little slow in some places . It wasn’t as action packed as FuryRoad but still worked as a story and kept my attention the entire time. The ending was a little like “Uhhh…okay” but didn’t ruin the film by any means. Anya Taylor Joy was fantastic and Hemsworth was a good villain. Love the back and forth between warring tribes. Great movie! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/03/25 Full Review Don Honeycutt Everyone should see this movie three times just to ensure that George Miller keeps making films in this universe! This will definitely be looked back on as a classic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/02/25 Full Review Walt H George Miller always delivers with the Road Warrior series. This is a fantastic prequel. Magnificent. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/10/25 Full Review Jacky G It has a few good action scenes, however it it’s very forgettable and does not utilize Furiosa well in the story. I say skip it. It’s basically a Furiosa origins movie that nobody wanted. “Mad Max: Fury Road” captures her character a lot better story-wise. Funny enough, she kinda is the main character of that movie, while Mad feels more like a support character to her. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/07/25 Full Review Matt W Not as bad as everyone is saying. Not as good as the first but still good. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/06/25 Full Review Jeremy W Love Hemsworth in this. Like in Bad Times At The El Royale, he plays bad very well. not nearly as good as Mad Max Fury Road, but a fun deeper dive into the insane world the Mad Max film series created.
