French comedy sensation Gad Elmaleh is back on Netflix with his second original stand-up comedy special, "Gad Elmaleh: American Dream." Filmed at The Town Hall in New York City, Gad throws his audience into hysterics as he recalls his experiences moving from Paris to New York, struggling to flirt with women in New York clubs, and how he wants to visit the Paris that Americans always talk about, but doesn't really exist. "Gad Elmaleh: American Dream" marks the comedian's first full English-language stand-up special.

Steve Greene indieWire Elmaleh brings a breezy style without many of the frills that often come along with some of the whimsy underneath. Jul 18, 2019 Full Review Margaret Lyons New York Times Gad Elmaleh is the biggest stand-up comedian in France, and a few years ago he decided to conquer the American stage, too. This is his first English-language special, and it's solid. Jul 17, 2019 Full Review Sean L. McCarthy Decider Gad Elmaleh often gets compared to Jerry Seinfeld. For good reason. Elmaleh is France's biggest star in stand-up comedy, and his observational material shares a preciseness and efficiency with the American who influenced him. Max A Nothing much to say. Already caught up with plagiarism for his previous shows, this one lacks the wit we all want from the comedy scene today Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/29/24 Full Review Audience Member Gad Elmaleh is apparently a big deal in France. In the US he is not well known but he is very funny. This pre-covid stand up special from NYC is very amusing. The best part of his act involves playing with the differences between French and American culture, with a contrast of his Moroccan routes. He is a very keen student of culture and language. His exploration of American dialect and conversation is good. He is a very physical and facially funny man. I recommend this one. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
