Tamara K The only reason I watched it was because of Tupac. Had he lived he would have become a great actor. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/08/24 Full Review Patrick I A slick, underrated crime gem that was the last glimpse of a performer( Shakur), who was on his way to matching, if not eclipsing, his success as a musician. But it is Belushi that shines brightest in his best performance, as a desperate, menacing slimeball. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/21/23 Full Review Michael S There's a good movie to made with this material. I like the idea of 2 crooked cops who commit a crime, commit more crimes to cover it up, and everything continues to snowball. The problem here is way too much happens too quickly. You barely have time to process one crime before the next one is underway. Well acted (including Jim Belushi as one of the crooked cops), but needed some fine tuning. Tupac's last film before his death. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review aaron c Extremely underrated…. Amazing performances and not like any other cop movie because the main characters are horrible people but you're still rooting for them to get away with it the whole movie. R.I.P. Tupac Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Now I know why I never felt compelled to watch this. The plot is thin and weak and kinda stupid - dirty cop kills an undercover DEA agent by mistake and then, with the help of his partner and stripper girlfriend, frames a homeless bum for it. The title is a bit misleading and it turns into a part courtroom drama. Thankfully, there is a little twist that occurs and is able to keep it afloat until the mostly predictable conclusion. Geoff Brown Times (UK) Jim Kouf, the writer-director, is usually associated with fairly trivial crime escapades. Here he stops joking; and Belushi and Shakur tread the mean streets of their unnamed city with grim panache. Jan 10, 2023 Full Review Nigel Andrews Financial Times Though full of good lines, this mazy, cynical thriller from writer-director Jim Kouf finds its wit constantly rolling out of view like an errant coin. Jan 10, 2023 Full Review Owen Gleiberman Entertainment Weekly Rated: D+ Sep 7, 2011 Full Review Philip French Observer (UK) The film's essential problem is that the duo are unsympathetic, uninteresting and unintelligent, resulting in a rare case of an audience eager for the main characters to get their comeuppance. Jan 10, 2023 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews Unpleasant urban crime drama that's short on story but a bit longer on performances. Rated: C+ Aug 25, 2017 Full Review David Noh Film Journal International Writer-director Jim Kouf crams the screen with enough incident, coincidence and characters to keep you watching.
