Given the gradually upticking arc of his opuses' IMDb ratings to date, Woodward should finally score a 6 out of 10 sometime next year. He's got the perspiration part down; surely inspiration can't hold out much longer. Go to Full Review

Respectable period production values and some recognizable castmembers are no substitute for imagination in this flat crime flick, which steals freely from its predecessors but offers none of their guilty-pleasure thrills. Go to Full Review

The ideal audience for "Gangster Land" would be someone who's never seen "The Untouchables" or "Boardwalk Empire" ... or, heck, even "Guys and Dolls" or "Bugsy Malone." Go to Full Review

Gangster Land tells a story of the mafia that is as old as time. But in defiance of the independent nature of the production, it captures 1920s Chicago with verve and immaculate detail. Go to Full Review

However well-intentioned it might be, the script is woefully overburdened with genre clichs and historical embellishments while treading familiar territory that's been done much better elsewhere. Go to Full Review

W W @SimpleSoup Dec 21 Gangster Land (2017) delivers a gritty mob story with a strong crime-film vibe. The performances and style help keep it engaging, and there are some solid moments for fans of gangster movies. While the pacing can be slow and the story isn’t especially original, it’s still an enjoyable watch if you like classic crime dramas. See more 06/23/2020 Pure garbage.
