Jimmy Cage Jimmy Cage Movie Reviews (YouTube) Raj B. Shetty shows in an impressive triple role as director, screenwriter and lead actor that hes really shaking up Kannada Cinema. His second work is a symbolic, coldblooded and stylistically pointed, yet also rather basic, gangster drama. Rated: 7/10 Mar 15, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Suprateek A This film felt like a gay love story and I was really hooked throughout. This film was really good! It was raw and very realistic , at some parts it felt like I was witnessing all these events in person. The cinematography of this film was pretty amazing and the I really liked some of the wide angled shots which were quite reminiscent of Thyagaraja Kumararaja's work. I cannot leave out the dance sequence which was the best scene from the entirety of the film, I legit had goosebumps while watching that scene. The music, the dance choreography, the staging and framing everything was perfect with this scene. This scene will be remembered for ages. Coming to the performances both the Shetty's were amazing and due to their friendship in real life they were able to make their characters very believable along with them the actor who played the role of the policeman did a great job. The music in this film was minimal yet it was brilliant. Coming to the negatives, well I preferred the first half over the second half of the film because the first half was both artistic and amazing, but the second half of the film picks up in the latter half , it was too late for me by then. But nevertheless the drama was really good despite being predictable. This part is going to have some spoilers so read at your own risk. So coming to the first line of this review, I stand by it. I feel like this film is a tragic gay love story, because it was implied in the beginning that Shiva hates women because of what his mother did to him, and it was Hari who rescued him when everyone left his body and it was Hari who gave him an entirely new life. When the wine shop owner threatens to kill Hari, then Shiva stands up for him and kills that guy. Later on in one of the songs Hari looks at Shiva which was quite reminiscent of how protagonists look at their love interests. Also like there are like zero female characters in the film to further prove this. Shiva gets possessive when Hari gets closer to Ravi like a toxic boyfriend. Shiva and Parvati complete each other but Shiva has no Parvati in this film , and well Hari completes Shiva both of them cannot exist without each other and both of them are the reason for why they are the way that they are. Both of them die on the same day to make things really poetic. This was something that I had observed. Finally GGVV is an interesting attempt in the gangster genre and I enjoyed it.
