Suprateek A As a part of my Mani Ratnam marathon(well if a marathon takes place for weeks together) I watched Geetanjali. This film is a masterpiece! I love it so much. I was initially concerned that I wouldn't enjoy it, but I'm so happy that I was proven wrong. Every single frame of this film was so beautifully shot that I couldn't keep my eyes off of the screen. I kept exclaiming out loud whenever there was a shot that I really liked and my mom thought I hurt myself. The fact that this film was made in 1989 still boggles me. It was definitely ahead of its time. The performances were really amazing as well , I think this is the first time that I genuinely liked Nagarjuna as a performer. The child artists who acted as Geeta's sisters were really good and their grandmother as well. But the stand out performer has to be Girija Shettar as Geetanjali, oh man she was so good! I fell in love with her. It's such a bummer that she didn't become an established actress in the industry because she was just amazing in every scene that was in. On the bright side I'm glad that she was a part of this gem. Don't even get me started on the songs because they were just so soothing and in a weird way they were nostalgic because growing up I have heard these songs in different places. They were just so amazing and I love the entire album. O papa lali probably has to be my favourite from the entire album . Every single song provided something to the narrative of the film which makes the songs even better. In the end all I can say is that this probably is my favourite Mani Ratnam film right now. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/01/23 Full Review Samuel P There's a lack of "things" between the two. Apart from them both embracing each other, there isn't a scene or something about/between them. Villian is the disease. They love each other. That's it, that's the film. For what it is, it's worth a watch.
