Birithivy Y George Lopez: Muy Catolico - 6/10. The George Lopez Show was one of those shows that was always on in the afternoon when there was nothing else to watch. It was a decent sitcom, and though I’m not a Lopez superfan per se, I do have a soft spot for the man because I grew up watching his comedy and his late night talk show. This special was okay, and you can tell Lopez has lost a beat or two in his comedic skills. Some laughs here and there, but to be honest, his best years are behind him. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/16/25 Full Review Jeh J Let me preface this by saying that I used to be a big fan of Mr. Lopez. I loved his sitcom and his new sitcom is silly but not bad. But I happened to work security at a couple of his shows and found him to be an overbearing jerk. A few times we were worried that the crowd was going to get out of hand. He doesn't tolerate people who yell from the audience, even if it's "We love you George" and has his security kick out anybody who dares look at a cellphone (Which is understandable but way over the top). He will stop and call out people for saying things too loud and his security was in fear every night of losing their jobs. That being said, I thought I would give his special a try. I did watch the whole thing and laughed out loud a few times, but he does drop the F-word almost every sentence. The audience seemed to really enjoy it and he even got a standing ovation at the end. I saw a different George Lopez though. He is older now and, judging from the way he was talking and the things he said, old age has hit him hard and he is not taking it well. I'm a little older than he is and, if he's anything like me, I understand that. Even though he cussed quite a bit, I expected it and he seemed a little more reflective now and not the same jerk I saw before. In closing, let me say, I did find it funny but not so much as to recommend it. Especially to friends who are strict catholics, because I don't think they will like it at all. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/25 Full Review Philip G There are funny bits, but he just seems to have run out of ideas. Pale shadow of where he was 20 years ago. Also, appears to be GACKED out on something. The first 20 minutes or so really struggle. Just more gross than funny. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/25 Full Review Joel M Wasn't bad, but wasn't good. Just mid. His previous specials were hilarious. Even the last one, We'll Do It For Half was a lot funnier. There were a few part that made.me laugh and chuckle, but I felt George was just phoning it in and just recycling old material with a new twist. Dude lost a step. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/25 Full Review Garrett E Abysmal, as if I was watching Gabriel Iglesias with a fake Mexican accent and a script written by vivziepop Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/19/25 Full Review Kevin G I did not get passed first 10 minutes. I can deal with a comedian missing on being funny (he missed ) but throwing in the F bomb on every sentence makes cursing lose a comic timing and is just boring. I was a big fan of his show and wish him the best. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/19/25 Full Review Read all reviews
