Adam O Nov 23 Although sceptical, this Brazilian film is a well made comedy, and funnier than other ‘comedies’ produced recently. Centred around an overly ambitious police office from a small sleepy Northern town, who finds himself in the midst of an investigation to bring down a major drug gang, the quick wit fun of this film makes it a joy to watch. The English subtitles and voiceover do not do it justice - some jokes only work in Portuguese and are more apt when you understand Brazilian culture. The characters' appearance, the bus from São Paulo, 25 March Avenue, "rapadura" (one of our candies). It should be difficult to understand the jokes for non-Brazilian speakers; the slang is very regional. But, for those who like to see other cultures in a non-melodramatic way, I recommend it.
