John Hartl Seattle Times It's tough and unsparing, but the grimness is never gratuitous. Rated: 3/4 Apr 9, 2015 Full Review Tom Long Detroit News Ultimately the movie is wearying, but then it's likely supposed to be. If Viviane's going through the wringer, you're going through the wringer too. Rated: B- Apr 3, 2015 Full Review Marjorie Baumgarten Austin Chronicle The kind of tragic and absurd blend that can only be labeled as Kafkaesque. Rated: 4/5 Mar 20, 2015 Full Review Yasser Medina Cinefilia The Elkabetz brothers, in the last film of Viviane Amsalem's trilogy, examine the marital dilemma from the perspective of patriarchal institutions, without ever losing its dramatic pulse. adam s Excellent. Very hard to follow Jewish law when the wife wants to quit the marriage. On the other hand, as the husband's supporters pointed out, he was a good guy and she could have appreciated that and not wanted divorce in first place. To some of the other reviews... it works both ways... the husband can't demand divorce either without proper justification. Neither party can. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Fantastic but devastating. I bless every day that I was not born into a society like this. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member I wasn't sure I wanted to watch this movie, the premise I thought would bore me, but I'm really glad I took a chance. What an interesting movie, very well acted, and tragic. This movie depicts how many women are still second class citizens in many countries, and this movie does a great job of showing what that means in real life, without trying to make a point. Check this movie out if you get a chance. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Oh my God. Torture. Sheer torture. I would rather gouge my eyeballs out and watch them get eaten by wolves. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review nefasto r Not an easy film. Entirely shot inside a court room you will feel trapped, but I imagine that was the feeling the director was going for. Nothing compared to the ordeal the poor Viviane has to go through though, so we still get the good part of the deal here. What does it matter is that at the end, ·"GETT" is good and powerful, and deserves to be seen. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member My heart hurts physically and emotionally after finishing this movie. I cannot imagine a more riveting portrayal of the bound (agunot) woman. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
