This could have been a hoot, but the execution lets down the premise, and the film remains one of those that could have been edgier and funnier. Go to Full Review

Ghanchakkar is a fantastic concept stretched to non-fantastic proportions. (...) Three great masks and a Vidya Balan do not a summer or a movie make. Go to Full Review

The director, who shares writing credits with Parveez Sheikh, succeeds at setting up an intriguing if convoluted premise, but then struggles to take his characters and story anywhere interesting. Go to Full Review

07/16/2014 I don't know why critics & audience both trashed Raj Kumar Gupta's Ghanchakkar?. Have to say, it is enjoyable. There are very few Indian films which have such kind of absurdness & dark feel. I don't know how it feels to be an amnesiac but Emraan Hashmi was simply awesome in his role of amnesiac thief. Yeah... it gets pretty boring in second half but there are very few Indian films that starts with a cute animation sequence & ends with extremely violent train scene. Also it has one of the most hilarious bank robberies ever. See more 06/25/2014 One of the most powerful endings in Hindi cinema till date... loved the entire build up to a climax that never explodes... a style that I had always liked about Humayun Ahmed novels See more 03/31/2014 Nicely done! Very intriguing story and suspense kept until last minute. Like it.. See more 12/24/2013 A hugely underrated suspense-comedy-drama that is also a very good character study. See more 11/24/2013 A Bollywood take on Trance See more 11/08/2013 Just watched this movie on Netflix. I am happy to say that I watched a good (or almost great if not for a few hiccups) in a while. I was very surprised to read so many negative review but II thought the movie had an excellent story line, great script, almost a flawless execution, and the acting too was not bad. May be a few glitches here and there - like the over stressed punjabi accent of Vidya, but that does not make the whole movie bad. I was surprised to hear that climax was bad - so what were they expecting - Imran gets back his memory in the end and they live happily ever after!? - crap. If one cannot accept a novel storyline which is off the beaten track how does one expect the quality of our movies to improve? Frankly speaking I haven't watched a movie in recent times which kept the suspense going till the last minute (literally). The director also successfully brings out the emotional aspects of the 4 main characters who start suspecting each other in the ensuing confusion. The twists that happen towards the climax scene on the local train are quite good and not very easy to guess. On top of that one can hardly guess where the money was kept till the very last minute. Overall a very good suspense thriller with some situational comedy - a must watch if you are a fan of suspense thrillers. See more Read all reviews
