Dallas Morning News Rated: C+ May 13, 2006 Full Review Terry Lawson Detroit Free Press Easy to fall into, courtesy of the inviting, autumnal cinematography of Virginie Saint-Martin and the persuasive, committed and sensual performance of the title character, played by Emmanuelle Devos. Rated: 3/4 Apr 14, 2006 Full Review Ella Taylor L.A. Weekly Were Hitchcock alive, he'd surely claim the ripe and faintly sinister Devos as his muse. Mar 17, 2006 Full Review Doris Toumarkine Film Journal International A small, perfect storm of beautiful components brought together by Fonteyne and his team. Mar 1, 2007 Full Review Cherryl Dawson and Leigh Ann Palone TheMovieChicks.com It's a French love story that's tragic (is there any other kind), but it does make you glad you're not in the middle of this menage a misery. It's definitely worth a look. Rated: 3.5/5 May 12, 2006 Full Review Josh Bell Las Vegas Weekly While Devos provides a striking depth of emotion as Elisa, her skills aren't quite enough to keep the movie from feeling cold and distant. Audience Member Fabulous. No need for dialogue. Faces tell the story. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member The film is sustained by its cinematography and the psychological depth of Emmanuelle Devos' performance in her role as Elisa, a dutiful and overworked wife who suspects her husband of having an affair, and ultimately becomes a participant in her own degradation. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member The wife of a brute Frenchman accuses her husband of cheating on her with her sister. The event leads to shocking developments, in the setting of a small and distant French village. The photography is quite impressive, and Fonteyne is able to build a nice intense atmosphere. However, the plot is a little too restrictive and in the end the film ends up feeling cold and a little dull. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member I liked the directing, the cinematography, and even the story - but it was a tad on the boring side. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member another tale of love lost & the price of infedelity moves real real slow.
