Carina Chocano Los Angeles Times Writer David Stenn stumbled across the shocking story of Patricia Douglas and MGM around the time he was finishing his biography of Jean Harlow, and he immediately sprang into action. Rated: 3/5 Jul 26, 2007 Full Review Ella Taylor L.A. Weekly [Girl 27] not without fascination, in part because he's dug up extraordinary footage that features Douglas and her attacker. He also dug up Douglas herself, and it's her story that dominates the movie. Jul 26, 2007 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety Pic's self-serving approach is contemptible. Audience Member I'm glad someone finally told her story. She deserved that closure. There was a lot of good investigative work. My only issue is the parts where the director David Stenn makes it about himself. The oddest part was where Patricia Douglas is interviewed about the first time she met the director and she talks of him "courting" her. It then switches to him talking about basically being in love with her. She was in her 80s and he looks to be in his late 20s or 30s maybe. It really ruined the film for me. It was so awkward feeling and cringey. He should have stuck to the topic and left all that personal stuff out. It's almost as if he tried to make it a documentary about HIMSELF and his journey to find her. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review adam b I damn near cried watching this film. Such a heartbreaking story about one courageous woman and the slimy filth that was MGM Studios Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review david f This is a fascinating documentary about a sexual assault which took place in the heyday of the Hollywood Studio system only to be forgotten for decades. The filmmaker tracked down people with firsthand knowledge of what happened and tells this story which is representative of the unsavoury side of Hollywood. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member revealing tale of rape culture and cover ups in MGM, as one elderly woman and one young film maker form a bond and bring everything into the light. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member the life and story of Patricia Douglas: very enigmatic and also very sad...this kind of event only shows the power and greed hollwywood used to have back in the "good ol' days" it is a relief to know that,we don't have those kind of issues today...
