Berkeley was fired from the film after choreographic the "I Got Rhythm" finale, and as a result the film never quite achieves the same effortless charm his earlier collaborations between Rooney and Garland Go to Full Review

Judy Garland, then 21, and 23-year-old Mickey Rooney were clearly pushing the envelope when they played crazy kids who put on a show one last time. Go to Full Review

Here's another Rooney-Garland confection where not much of interest happens when everyone isn't singing or dancing. The Gershwin score is tops, though. Go to Full Review

Timothy P Feb 4 Judy and Mickey are really on their games in this film. Yes, Busby Berkeley was replaced by veteran director Norman Taurog with no detrimental effect at all. Berkeley did hang on for the wild, fabulous film’s final number, “I got rhythm”. The two stars have the benefits of the Gershwin score with knockout arrangements by Sy Oliver, Axel Stordhal and the prolific Conrad Salinger and more than capable supporting actors, including Nancy Walker and June Allison! Strong recommend. See more steve d 01/09/2023 childish and unfunny. See more 04/11/2021 ginger gatekeeps, gaslights and girlbosses. 😎😎 See more 02/01/2019 The best musical comedy movie ever made!
