ONE Staff ONE Lavish, it is true, but factual -- ah, that is another story. May 21, 2020 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews It never caught my interest despite the juicy sensationalist story it promised to tell. Rated: C+ Jul 29, 2009 Full Review Dan Jardine Apollo Guide Little more than a competently acted and shot costume drama, it is neither a film of the ages or for the ages; it is a film that has, however, aged, and poorly. david f There are lavish production values circa the 1955 height of the studio system, and from what I've read the historical accuracy is pretty high, but this film about a sensational murder in New York City and the ensuing Trial of the Century didn't quite live up to its fascinating subject matter. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Frances H What makes this flick so fascinating to me is that the story is so scandalously true and involves such a brilliant architect with a rather risqué fetish, a murder of passion, and a connection to the Pittsburgh area in which I grew up. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/17/17 Full Review Audience Member This story has fascinated me ever since I read about Evelyn Nesbe\it in Cecil B. DeMille's autobiography. Proves that sensationalism and the creation of the "It" girl are nothing new. Joan Colllins does a great job as Nesbit, demonstrating her tragic victimization by two men. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member They had me at the Red Velvet Swing in the Penthouse Conservatory!!!! I STILL love to swing!!!! This is a beautiful Unrequited Love Story that goes horribly wrong when she marries a mentally unstable, jealous man just to get over the one she really loves & cannot morally have in 1906.What we do to escape love!!!! Her jealous & cruel hubby eventually kills the man she really loves.Joan Collins gives Liz Taylor a run for her Beauty in this Movie is one of my Favorites because it has one of the best endings I have ever loved, I am having a very tough time not spoiling it for you. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting storyline which puts showgirl Joan Collins in between two men, resulting in murder. Enough twists in the plot to keep you interested. The film is dated in such a way that it's more of a treat than a chore to view. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Along with one or two of the sound stage epics she was involved with, this one represents the height of Joan Collins on the big screen. She is not bad in this irreverent romantic drama. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Read all reviews
