An important theme of Girls Will Be Girls is sexual awakening portrayed aesthetically with no titilation. A strong aspect is the complex mother and daughter dynamics. Kani Kusruti continuing her brilliant act portrays an over protective mother. Here too she does a superlative job of bringing out the inner turmoil of a mother who is grappling with her own desires while being a controlling mother. Preeti Panigrahi on the other hand also does a very fine job in portraying the vulnerability, defiance and the contradictions a teenager goes through.
