Ash P Let's wrap up the given franchise with the movie that takes place after the last movie, Hiiragi Mix. Like how I'd mentioned in my review of the last movie, both of them were released in theaters in my area for a limited time and I didn't go because I was due for rewatching the series before seeing all of the movies. With how this goes, it's certainly the better of the other given movies. The story mainly centers Mafuyu having thought about his future, which is a tough choice of continuing his pursuit in his music career while also wanting to keep his relationship with Ritsuka. He was even invited to go to a concert syh, the band that Ritsuka is still hired to fill in temporarily, but refuses since the song that they would play was originally Yuki's. Not only that, he's still haunted by the death of his previous boyfriend. Thankfully, with the help of the other boys like Hiiragi and another boy named Ugetsu Murata, he shows up and understands the feeling of the song. It is pretty much how the story goes, and it works with mainly Mafuyu growing out of not only the doubt of choosing either music or his love for Ritsuka. Mafuyu also had grown out to move out from his grief of losing Yuki after taking his own life. How, you ask? The music. It's convincing enough that the words Ugetsu had told Mafuyu are more than enough to convince everyone else who would watch this movie. Not just music, though? It can be for anything else like writing, acting, directing, or any small job since choosing one end would change your future. Honestly, I was a little skeptical if Mafuyu would choose one or the other when I had suggested, "Why not choose both?" Which does work out well for how the movie had ended as they had all graduated from school. The side-characters were fine as they are. The music is still good, especially when they are sung live with an audience. The sound design is fine as it is when it's pretty low in the background. The animation is vastly improved, like the last movie is when comparing the series and the movies. The character development is mainly with Mafuyu and a little on Ritsuka, which works when looking into some more of Mafuyu's backstory as well as learning how to move forward with the help of music. It is hard to say goodbye, but it's worth noting that it's how moving on works with what you have and what you want to do with your life with both a career that you wanted and who you look up to as new love. This has certainly been a good conclusion to give as a whole. With that said, I give this movie eight Mafuyu having his eyes opened while Ritsuka and that band, syh, plays out of ten. 8/10.
