Charles Jan 24 Fine cast of actors bring this epic movie to life and you feel you're an eye-witness to the intrigue of ancient Rome, the grand-scale battles in Germania, and of course gladiator fighting in the Roman coliseum. This movie is rich in action scenes, enhanced by the big screen cinema and powerful sound. Puts you right there. If you want the ultimate viewing experience, don't rent this movie, see it at the theatre. Gladiator won five Oscars in 2001 you won't be disappointed. It's one of those rare movies that hits every single mark, from the intense action to the deeply emotional story about honor and sticking to your values even when everything goes wrong. Russell Crowe is incredible as Maximus, he really carries the whole film and Joaquin Phoenix is honestly perfect as a total nightmare of a villain. Between the massive battle scenes and that legendary score by Hans Zimmer, it’s just such an immersive experience. It’s way more than just a typical action flick; it’s the kind of movie that stays with you long after it’s over.
