What to Know

Critics Consensus

This adaptation of David Mamet's play is every bit as compelling and witty as its source material, thanks in large part to a clever script and a bevy of powerhouse actors.

Henry Sheehan The Hollywood Reporter While the dark view of human nature and brutal dialogue might keep faint hearts from the film, the cast manages to individualize and humanize the pugilistic wordplay so that its expressiveness never veers into offensiveness. Oct 3, 2018 Full Review Todd McCarthy Variety Mamet reveals his exceptional talent for writing almost poetic working-class vernacular, scores his major implicit thematic thrusts against the nature of the way business-at-large is conducted. Jun 9, 2008 Full Review Time Out David Mamet's play about the wheelings and dealings of real-estate salesmen gets dedicated playing from a splendid cast, but gains nothing by the transfer from stage to screen. Jun 24, 2006 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …while Glengarry Glen Ross doesn’t moralise, it smacks of Mamet’s voice of experience, and anyone whose worked at the sharp end of sales will recognise the dehumanising tone of the events that play out here… Rated: 5/5 Aug 2, 2024 Full Review Fico Cangiano CineXpress Podcast Incredible performances galore! A magnificent script splashed on the screen by an electric, powerful cast. Ed . Alec and Al give tour de force performances, but Jack Lemmon is pathos personified. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/29/25 Full Review Noel L It was kind of like The Wolf of Wall Street before becoming an empire. Kind of confusing when they were talking business Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/22/25 Full Review Mary A The actors are amazing but the dialogue they were given falls short. The idea of the story is interesting but the dialogue is over the top. I know it's probably meant to be that way but it's too much too fast. The characters could have been much more interesting if each of them had unique personalities instead of all of them yelling obscenities at each other. It seems like they were all playing the same character. The movie seemed unrealistic because if salesman talked that way to their boss and each other they would have been fired. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/17/25 Full Review Steve L. I laughed uncomfortably through the whole thing. Alan Arkin and Jack Lemmon are highlights. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/30/25 Full Review Stephen C Success in 1 hour and 40 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The USA grossed over $10,700,000.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/30/25 Full Review Jake S One of a kind. I feel like it’s a salesman twist on 12 Angry Men. Very interesting. Some will hate it for its non stop talking. But I found it to be sucking me in non stop. When the second half kicks in, the whole movie changes for the better. CHECK IT OUT! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/21/25 Full Review Read all reviews
