What to Know

Critics Consensus

Glitter is a hodgepodge of movie cliches and bad acting that's sure to generate unintentional laughs. Unfortunately, the movie is not bad enough to be good.

Susan Stark Detroit News Rated: 2/4 Mar 10, 2007 Full Review Christy Lemire Associated Press The best parts of this dud are the ones in which she's singing. This is what she does best. This is what she should stick to. Save your money and watch her videos for free on cable music-television networks. Mar 5, 2007 Full Review Colin Kennedy Empire Magazine Heroically bad. E T An ego project that is the worst movie I've ever seen Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/25/24 Full Review Ciaran S When I was watching Glitter I was like, oh wow the story is unoriginal & uninteresting, oh wow the writing is extremely dull and lazy, oh wow the characters are forgettable and generic, and oh wow the soundtrack is insufferable & uninspiring. Not to mention the latter being released on the same day during the 9/11 attacks, it's a good thing she moved on to Charmbracelet because this movie & it's soundtrack are atrocious. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/24 Full Review Robson T Someone needed to tell Mariah Carey to slow down, and glitter does just that. A lame film, embarrassing to watch that shows a great music star that she is not good at everything she sets out to do or wants to do. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/11/23 Full Review Marcos Vinicius L O filme é bastante subestimado. Tudo bem que não é uma das maiores produções já feitas, mas a história é coerente e bastante emocionante. A atuação de Mariah é ótima. A trilha sonora é bem contagiante e bem feita. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/04/23 Full Review Teresa C I watched expecting the worst from what I heard about the movie in the past 1. { the singing is good not a surprise but you should listen to the album} 2. Mariah Carey's acting was not as bad as I thought it would be but it defentily was not amazing more like Mediocre.. 3. It had a pretty good cast, and it's sad it flopped due to a bad time period in American History 4. The movie is a cliche-ish yes it was predictable between billy and her music producer but at the same time there is some unexpected parts to the story especially the ending to the love story 5. This good to watch on a late night for the type of movies are just "meh, not my favorite but def not the worst" 6. Mariah did not deserve the worst actress award Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/29/23 Full Review Manuel A Stop the Hate! This movie was not the train wreck its believed to be. I'm here for the sequel!
