Audience Member Independent runner signs with well-financed club (backed by none other than a wealthy Cameron Mitchell) and lives to regret his decision when it damages his relationship with his running mentor and friend and girlfriend, who he doesn't always seem that into based on his forgetting dates. Like the message, the lure of Olympic gold is secondary to loyalty to friends.
