Sarthak B TAKE! A! BOW! I have been a fan of this film for like, forever now. The reason being this film has everything! It offers a complete, cohesive, emotion-rich and overall a great experience you expect from a zom-com. After seeing so many zombie films, (a majority of them being produced in Hollywood) I can say Go Goa Gone is probably in my top 5 list and there is no film out there that can derank it. I have been a fan of the zombie genre for a long time only because zombies have always fascinated me since childhood. I used to play games like Plants vs. Zombies, Zombie Highway, Dead Trigger in my dad's phone all the time! Which is why when this film came out, I really really wanted to experience it in theatres. But, alas! Fate had other plans. The film was rated 18+ and despite all the begging I did to my dad fir letting me watch this film at the age of 14 was all in vain (he himself went to see it though :P). So yeah, I never got the chance to see this masterclass in theatres but when I saw it! I was just in awe at the end because of how beautiful this film is. The story is simple, a bunch of people get involved in a zombie apocalypse and they try their best to stay alive throughout the entirety of the film with a big final showdown between our heroes and zombies at the end. But, there is a twist to the appearance of zombies here. They are basically drug-induced humans who have reached at such a state of high where the only thing that can satisfy their hunger for more high is blood, hence the zombies. It is so clever how naturally this movie incorporates the worst aspects of drug-taking in such a unique way. In the end, a character even says that "drugs can F you up" which was clearly the hidden message behind the film as two of the main characters are drug-addicts (kinda). The acting OMG. I loved each and everyone in this film. Especially Saif Ali Khan (take a bow for the gigachad). Kunal Khemu is just the funniest guy he's ever been, Vir Das is the quirky kinda main protagonist of the film, Anand Tiwari is the hardworking 'say no to drugs' friend who hates his friend fir their habits but also loves them anyway and Puja Gupta is the strong mirror of today's female population who know their shit. Out of all of these tho, Saif Ali Khan (despite having the least screentime) stole the show. He plays this Russian Mafia dude turned Zombie Killer with such efficiency that you'll completely forget he's the romantic boy who was famous for his cuteness in the 90s. Comedy is usually subjective. But here, the case is different. The comedy used here is crude, racist, real and sometimes outright disrespectful but it is bound to make you laugh/chuckle in the darkest ways possible. And correct me if I'm wrong but everyone needs some dose of dark humour every now and then. The music ahhhhhhh. I love each and every song in this film as not even a single one takes your focus away from the main story but only enhances it. I like how each song is placed perfectly in the film to make sure the audience doesn't feel a sudden tone shift and they transition through scenes smoothly. The BGM used is also magnanimous. The guitar strings rocking alongside Saif Ali Khan blasting brains gave me tingles all over my body. Overall, it's the best Bollywood is ever going to get in terms of a Zombie movie but trust me, it's perfect as it'll ever be. I am also quite sad that this film was a bit of a disappointment at the BO, coz I really need a sequel answering my queries to that cliffhanger but kinda satisfying ending :') Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/13/23 Full Review Mohamed G The idea is good but the implementation is poor. It could have done a lot better, but it's a great experience for Bollywood cinema. There are several important things that this movie misses, including the bad acting of the zombie performers, the cheap zombie killing scenes, the illogical situations in the storyline, etc. But in general I had a little fun watching this movie. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review yash b "Go Goa Gone" is a silly movie but it does deserve some credit since it does something different from conventional Bollywood. I think I have seen better horror comedies than this one but this movie has enough laughs and enough action to sit through one time. The characters are very over the top and don't have a lot of depth but at the same time, it is not necessary for this movie's premise. It helps that the movie is very short for Indian movie standards and is a quick watch. Overall, if you like this type of goofy and over the top horror-comedy, this movie is a pretty decent choice.
