The original cast of the popular sketch comedy TV show, Studio C, has made a movie! GO WEST tells the tale of two sisters traveling the Oregon Trail, and the hardships they endure by traveling from Illinois to Oregon in the 1800s, during harsh winters, long roads and dangerous dangers. A combination of a crazy cast of characters, a long and arduous journey, filled with harsh elements and sickness and death, this family comedy adventure pits the fragile group of handcart travelers against each other, where they have to find common ground and come together to make it thousands of miles to find a place to call home.

JK Studios -- the outfit behind Studio C, a BYUtv show that's built a reputation as a family-friendly alternative to SNL -- has found an audience by keeping the goofiness of sketch comedy and leaving out most of the iffy content.

From BYU’s Divine Comedy to Studio C to JK Studios, this group of comedians have proven they have what it takes to make people laugh. With Go West, they’ve done what I always wished I could have done with my friends back in the day, make a feature-length film for a wide audience to enjoy. And while it’s obvious that this movie was made on a shoestring (boot string?) budget, the writing is solid, the humor is plentiful, and the acting is entertaining. My family enjoyed watching this together to commemorate Pioneer Day and my kids have been quoting it even since then. You understand. Good job, gang!

If you don't know Studio C (original cast anyway) it will make less sense to you. The plot and characters are like a Monty Python sketch/movie (think Holy Grail) where it appeals to only a certain set of people very much. If you love OG Studio C, you'll enjoy the movie even if it isn't your all-time favorite.
