dave j Thursday, December 9, 2010 (1991) God of Gamblers II (In Chinese with English subtitles) ACTION/ COMEDY Because of the success of # 1 starring Chow Yun Fat, director Wong Jing allowed Stephen Chow to star in this second installment of the series without the star of the first one Chow Yun Fat! This time has Andy Lau returning who was in the first film return for the second alongside Stephen Chow and Man Tat Ng as a bumbling sidekick. Chock full of very hilarious spontaneous sight gags which would be lost if it wasn't watched in in it's natural dialect! Another example of Asian Trash cinema at it's best! 3.5 out of 4 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Still good, but when you play the same trick twice it loses the magic. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member own a copy of it at home. seen it so many tiems but i don't get bored of it =) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member This film is uniquely a squeal to both All for the Winner and God of Gamblers. I have not seen God of Gamblers, but it is not necessary to to understand this one. A lot more action than All for the Winner, but still great comedy. Stephen Chow is once again paired with Ng Man Tat as they have to contend with an impostor who claims he is the gambling master. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review steven g God of Gamblers II was a combination sequel for All For the Winner and God of Gamblers. Andy Lau reprises his role as Little Knife and Stephen Chow plays The Saint of Gamblers and Man Tat Ng returns as Blackie Tat. The places that are visited and the people who appear in this movie are from its prequels. It is an added bonus when they keep referring to Chow Yun-Fat's character and the clips they place in this movie which no doubtly are taken from his other movies. A very strange and funny sequel to both movies. Jing Wong was so impressed with All For the Winner that he contacted Stephen Chow to star in two sequels made during 1991. This combo went on to make several money making movies turning Stephen Chow into an Asian Comedy star and helping boost Jing Wong's status as one of the top filmmakers in Hong Kong. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member not any better than the first... but it's good to see the story developing into something unique..
