Cath Clarke Guardian An elegant and disturbing family drama that has echoes of Michael Haneke: it's a film with a shard of ice lodged in its heart. Rated: 4/5 Jan 26, 2021 Full Review Roger Moore Tribune News Service A spare and provocative debut feature, one that sucks you in even as Itay Tal introduces more challenging ideas than he could possibly address fully in 80 spare minutes. Rated: 3/4 Sep 18, 2020 Full Review Glenn Kenny New York Times Rarely does a debut feature showcase a talent so fully formed. This is a remarkably potent film. Sep 17, 2020 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews A complex relationship film. Rated: B Jan 30, 2021 Full Review Andrew Wyatt The Lens While the film's story is the stuff of ripe family melodrama, Tal's stylistic approach is closer to that of a chilly European psychological thriller. Rated: B Nov 17, 2020 Full Review Marie Asner Phantom Tollbooth The first few minutes of this film are startling. Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 31, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Eric B This is a great film. My first Israeli film. The piano music in it is really interesting; sounds super difficult to play. Whenever my dad recommends a film or book that he really liked but has depressing elements or darker emotions he says to put on your armor before going in. Put on your armor. There is plenty of beauty in it as well. Later tomaters! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/27/23 Full Review brent m This taut psychological thriller about a gifted pregnant pianist who wants the family's musical legacy to be carried on through her unborn son takes a dramatic twist when the child is born deaf, prompting his obsessive mother to take drastic steps to keep the dream alive. Israeli director Ital Tal's debut feature packs quite a suspenseful punch in its 80-minute runtime, especially in its remarkable ability to move the story along more by deeds than words. The film's excellent ensemble and superb score (much of it original) bring this captivating and compelling story to life, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats right up to the end. A surprising gem of a movie that's well worth your time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
