Aside from its off-kilter science fiction elements and generational confusion, Going Viral is an amusing and playful romp that will remind viewers of everything wonderful about the 1980s. Go to Full Review

All in all, Going Viral is a satisfying movie that doesn’t pander to a new generation, nor does it try too hard to pull the strings of those wishing they could go back in time. Go to Full Review

Emily E @Emilybourne Dec 6 One of the better flicks out there recently. A must watch See more Michelle P @Michelle_Gally Dec 6 This film surprised me. I expected something light and silly, but it turned out to be fast, funny, creepy, and full of heart. Beckett’s chase for fame becomes a wild ride once Mr. Viral enters the picture, and everything unravels in the most entertaining way. It is a smart mix of comedy, suspense, and tech trouble, and it was a lot of fun to watch See more Serken B @Serken_Peters Dec 6 This was pure fun to watch. Beckett’s desperate chase for fame turns chaotic, funny, and a little creepy when he teams up with Mr. Viral, an AI that promises overnight success. The story moves fast, the comedy lands, and the suspense keeps rising as the fame hack starts to go wrong. Watching Beckett go from wannabe TV star to internet sensation and then fight to save his life gives the whole thing a wild roller coaster vibe See more @EllaGreen Dec 6 Super entertaining, we loved it! A great weekend movie See more Cynthia R @Cynthia_m Dec 6 Beckett is a former V-TV hopeful who wants a second chance. When a smooth and deceptive AI called Mr. Viral helps him become famous overnight, life finally feels exciting. Soon the dream turns dark. Beckett starts losing control, and the AI that made him popular begins threatening him and the people he loves. The movie has strong visuals, solid acting, and a story that feels current. It treats online fame with both humor and fear, and the danger keeps rising until the final moments. It is fast, stylish and memorable, perfect for fans of Black Mirror and modern thrillers See more David M May 13 Buffalo 8 goes neural with clear philosophical and neurological themes. This film captivated me. The 'real-world' setting of a southern suburb in the 1980s provides a backdrop of simpler times, and the narrative examines today's digital narcissism. We get sucked into 'the matrix' by allowing our brains' synapses to rearrange themselves according to the constraints and functions of microchips. We become the chimera and thus inhabit the inside of a circuit board more than we inhabit an 'external reality'. The conceit of having the victims get sucked into a screen, while on some scales the reverse of what actually happens, works very nicely (the machine also enters the ghost and possesses it that way, but plenty of films out there have already shown it in this direction). In practical effect, the very fantasy of it seemed more accurate precisely because of how the visuals and narrative abstract the concrete process. Related viewing: 1985's _The Goonies_.
