Cary Darling Houston Chronicle "Golden Job" is just a generic heist movie that wants to fuse the clever camaraderie of "Ocean's Eleven" with the turbo-charged swagger of "The Fast and the Furious" movies, yet the sum ends up being decidedly far less than its already predictable parts. Rated: 2/5 Sep 27, 2018 Full Review Elizabeth Kerr The Hollywood Reporter Nostalgia is comforting because we know what to expect, and everyone hits their expected marks here. Sep 19, 2018 Full Review Edmund Lee South China Morning Post Fans of 1990s triad film series Young and Dangerous will feel a massive surge of nostalgia during Golden Job. Rated: 3/5 Sep 20, 2018 Full Review Boon Chan The Straits Times (Singapore) While fans might enjoy seeing a reunion of sorts, the new title does not quite work on its own terms as it leans too heavily on cliches. Steve C The guys of Young and Dangerous (and its theme song) are back with laughable Engrish dialogue ... but it's also understandable why they didn't call it Young and Dangerous 6, since the storyline is a fusion of heist, Fast and Furious, and firearm dependent action films. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/09/24 Full Review Audience Member Unfortunately for the very skilled action director Chin Kar Lok, he is not the perfect fit for this drama about brotherhood. In a film so trodden with cliches, Chin's action sequences remain a sight to behold. Unfortunately for him, his characters are so one-dimensional, it's hard to care. The only delight is Michael Tse's character, and even then is the same kind of roles Tse plays, the rougish, token bad teammate in a heroic team. Singer Phil Chang pops in with a glorified cameo as the head of the bad guy company, who, as all Westerners are bound to do in Hong Kong films, wants to steal something. Eric Tsang also pops in for some reason as the guy who brought all of them together. It is a rather messy script, though does take viewers on a wild chase across Europe. It is very reminiscent of The Adventurers (2017), but even then slightly loses due simply to that film having Jean Reno. A sad directional debut for Chin from a poor script, who does bring the action sequences to life. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Greath very expensive, full action, full drama, full education about family tauching Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member The scene is very beautiful, the actions and the plot...... forget it la. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Great to all these 90s’ movie stars gathering! Overall it’s good!
