A solid first feature for writer-director Dan Levy, Good Grief offers a generally affecting look at love after death whose refreshing sincerity only occasionally veers into sentimentality.

Matheus B Dan Levy takes us on a journey of self-discovery, of love, hate, loneliness, anger, and the most important of all things, LOVE! It surprised me how lovely and deep the story is, and how easy it is to lose track of yourself when you're in a relationship! I would recommend this to everybody who wants to feel something! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/27/24 Full Review Antoine K It's okay. I adore Dan Levy and I appreciate the study on grief but it's a tad cliché at times and honestly I'm getting tired of the rich people point of view. I know grief is grief, but the opulent setup disconnected me. It felt more like a sad Christmas fantasy than a genuine approach to the issue. I don't need it to be a poverty porn either but I think with nepotism we lack the true grit of real life experiences sometimes. I'll give it that it has a nice twist and the main character gets to face quite the challenge with his personal feelings. The end is very cliché, I've seen it so many times, it's an easy way out. If you're sentimental you'll love it, you'll cry. Only the dad made me feel something in the whole movie. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/16/24 Full Review Col N Must watch. Beautiful multi layered film about processing grief, betrayal and confusion. With love and acceptance prevailing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Parthiban P Disgusting..wwwwwwwwww Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/10/24 Full Review Meredith W Dan Levy is delightful as even as Marc, not just comedically but in bringing some real emotion to the story of when his character's husband unexpectedly dies. Under his direction too, it is story that is told with restraint, taking its time as we accompany Marc on a soul-searching trip to Paris to ultimately discover some hard truths. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/25/24 Full Review Brianne D It was the glorified painting of Dan Levy at the end for me. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/19/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Robert Levin Newsday Levy the actor does not give Levy the director/screenwriter what he needed. Rated: 2/4 Jan 31, 2024 Full Review Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) This might have been a sterner film if another actor played Marc and Levy applied more scrutiny to the character, but he’s done enough here to establish himself as a filmmaker. Rated: 3/5 Jan 18, 2024 Full Review Dwight Brown DwightBrownInk.com There are chuckles, whimsy, flirtations and tragic twists. But in the end, though entertaining and breezy, nothing cuts as deep as it should. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 11, 2024 Full Review Ben Turner The Pink Lens It might not roll out the belly laughs, but it will certainly make you chuckle even while you’re emoting deeply. Rated: 4/5 Feb 7, 2024 Full Review Stephanie Archer Film Inquiry A multilayered depiction, Good Grief delivers on what its title promises and audiences will find they are richer in experience for it. Feb 4, 2024 Full Review Andy Klein FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) Good Grief is a good romantic melodrama... This is not a comedy by any stretch of the imagination.
