Logan D 12/20/2024 Three periods in time: A man who cannot die in apocalyptic 2019; two sibling wishing to marry in 1900; a wake on New Year's Eve and someone makes it snow. You know, that snow you sniff. A visually stylish film with nods to Jodorowsky but it is unevenly paced. There's a shootout scene in the first story that was awkwardly composed. I had no idea where the two opponents were in relation to each other. I certainly would describe this as a cult film. I enjoyed it but it's extreme. Thought this film featured Santa and was set around Christmas but the figure is actually Ded Moroz, Father Frost, who brings gifts on New Years. This line hit hard: "Did you watch what they said on television? They said that the 21st century would uncover the false mask of people's morality." Goodbye, 20th Century! was Macedonia's submission to the 71st Academy Awards for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, but was not among the five finalists to achieve the Oscar nomination See more Read all reviews
